“Deda Ena” (“Mother Tongue”) by Iakob Gogebashvili – a cultural heritage of the Georgian people Print E-mail

111In the Gelati Academy of Sciences was held debates to announce “Deda Ena” (the first Georgian Alphabet) written by Iakob Gogebashvili (the founder of the scientific pedagogy) as a cultural heritage. Professors Avtandil Arabuli and Giorgi Gogolashvili took part in discussion. The debate, which was held in the assembly hall of 1st Public School of Tbilisi in 17 October 2008, was devoted to the conference on a topic: Iakob’s “Deda Ena” and modern Georgian school”.

Iakob Gogebashvili’s “Deda Ena” has played the big role in formation of a national education system. This brilliant textbook of a native language has no world analogue. The principle of construction of alphabetical part, the thematic side of the book was the basis that, in 1960, in Venezuela, Caracas, at the international exhibition-competition, the textbook received the first award and an honorable medal.

For this reason the people put up a monument to “Deda Ena”.

Ideas of the teacher about value of a native language in formation of the citizen and the person, about development of spiritual qualities and education have been used later by known Georgian psychologist Dimitri Uznadze in work «Mood Theory».

We ask all, who considers that Iakob Gogebashvili’s «Deda Ena» is a cultural heritage of the Georgian people, to take part in the poll.
